Falmouth

Falmouth offers some apartment and condo living, but is mostly single family homes. Many of the neighborhoods in Falmouth are along the water.

Falmouth is well-known to boaters around the world as it is home to the Portland Yacht Club, which is more than 150 years old, and the Falmouth Town Landing is the largest recreational anchorage north of Marblehead, Massachusetts, where there is a public beach and boat launch.

Looking for a nature walk? Maine Audubon's Gilsland Farm in Falmouth is a 65-acre sanctuary open during daylight hours. It is a birder’s paradise; there are feeders throughout the property that attract birds of all varieties. Tree and barn swallows nest on site, and bobolinks and Eastern meadowlarks populate the meadows. You can hunker down with binoculars at the two blinds overlooking the Presumpscot River Estuary. Or, you can head to Mackworth Island, just off the coast of Falmouth, accessible by a causeway. The 1.25-mile loop provides excellent views of Casco Bay and the many islands.

For a small town, Falmouth has plenty of dining options! Favorite restaurants include Foreside Tavern & Side Bar, great for a special night out, and the Dockside Grill where great food is paired with a great view of the bay. The Town Landing Market is a small grocery store and go-to for a quick bite to eat. They have a huge variety of sandwiches (from lobster rolls to Maine Italians) and convenient pre-made dinners to go. For Italian, check out JP's Bistro with a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food. Orchid Thai serves Thai cuisine with local produce and seafood. Ricetta’s is a popular spot for brick-oven fired pizzas.
